Software
Software in general means computer programs and applications. In this GIS lexicon "software" refers to programs that work with information, including but not limited to geo.
Geospatial software and GIS software are more specific subsets: tools with maps, CRS, geometry, and spatial analysis. Office or ERP without a map module is not GIS software, though it may exchange geo data via API.
The distinction matters: "software" is the umbrella; GIS software is the GIS core (QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoApps); geospatial software is broader (including ETL, viewers). For map projects you choose GIS software deliberately, not generic software alone.
