About us
MapGear is a growing company in map applications and geodata. With around 15 colleagues we innovate every day from the Gasfabriek Campus in Deventer. Our software is used by an increasing number of businesses and governments – from SMEs to national bodies.
Our strength is listening. We respond to your goals with innovative solutions, turning complex GIS data into accessible maps and dashboards – low-threshold and usable for everyone.
You can come to us for our software and for GIS and Geo-ICT support. We help with geodata, spatial databases, or setting up your own data infrastructure.

From idea to impact

MapGear was founded by Wouter Goedhart & Egbert Griffioen with the vision to make GIS technology accessible to everyone. The first product, Zonnekaart, revolutionized how citizens could check their rooftop potential for solar energy.
GeoApps first stable version – the transition from beta to production-ready, with better performance and robust data handling.
Move to headquarters in Deventer, on the Gasfabriek site. A larger, collaborative workspace in a thriving tech ecosystem.
Launch of MapTalk, the participation platform enabling municipalities to gather public input via interactive maps.
Dual ISO certification – ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 27001 for information security. Confirmation of our commitment to excellence and security.
Launch of Sustainability Map and growth of the customer base with major government bodies. MapGear now offers 5 product lines and more than 500 clients: mainly in the Benelux, but also across Europe.
