Mission

At MapGear it is our mission to create intuitive and powerful geographic apps that help people and organisations work more efficiently and make smarter decisions. We are committed to creating a sustainable future through our solutions. We aim for our technology not only to increase productivity but also to actively contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive society according to the principles of the triple bottom line (People, Planet, Profit).

Corporate Social Responsibility

Our products are designed to support our customers in their sustainability goals, such as the transition to clean energy and climate adaptation. We also strive to reduce our own carbon footprint and waste production through efficient energy and resource management. Our sustainable datacenter runs entirely on renewable energy and supplies heat to the Groningen district heating network (QTS datacenter in Groningen: Netherlands-Groningen Data Centers | QTS (qtsdatacenters.com)). We will continue to invest in sustainable technologies and processes to reduce our environmental impact.

Sustainable development

Concretely, we contribute to making the achievement of sustainable development goals visible and measurable. MapGear is therefore a supplier of various sustainability tools such as Zonnekaart and Sustainability Map. These tools and the data we create and provide support governments and organisations in visualising the potential and realisation of sustainable energy sources. Through our technology, governments can for example easily monitor and optimise solar energy use in their regions to facilitate a streamlined energy transition.

Social responsibility and inclusion

At MapGear we value creating a fair and inclusive society. Our online participation tool MapTalk plays an important role in this by enabling online citizen participation, giving a broader audience within local communities a voice in spatial and societal issues by being able to have their say on their (future) living environment through placing responses on the map. We also promote fair working conditions by investing in the development of our team.

Innovation

MapGear continuously invests in innovation and R&D with the further development of the GeoApps mapping platform. By deploying the GeoApps platform widely and continuously improving it, the resulting innovation continually contributes to our mission: working more efficiently and making smarter decisions based on geographic information.

In this way we ensure that new features and solutions, such as MapTalk, the Sustainability Map and our map viewer, are not only developed for specific projects but can also be used by anyone using our GeoApps platform. This contributes to resilient and healthy long-term development through the broad availability of our methods for working smarter and more efficiently.

Partnerships

We believe that collaboration is essential to achieving your goals. We therefore work with various market parties in the (geo-)field, offer our solutions through a partner programme and believe that integrating other solutions should be the norm, not the exception. The open nature of our solutions through APIs, developer toolkits and other integration methods has been developed to improve collaboration and partnerships.

As a resident of the Gasfabriek campus in Deventer, MapGear actively shares knowledge with regional partners, notably during our annual user event: the GeoApps Innovation Afternoon.

In this way we not only contribute to sustainability and innovation ourselves, but we also inspire others to innovate and do business in a socially responsible way.
