What is business intelligence with geodata?

Business Intelligence (BI) combines data from multiple sources into reports, dashboards, and KPIs for management decisions. With a location component it becomes location intelligence: figures per region, district, or parcel on the map.

In GIS context, sales, incidents, demographics, or livability are linked to geographic units. GeoApps dashboards can combine BI visualizations with PDOK layers and internal data.

BI is not narrow spatial analysis (buffer, overlay). It focuses on aggregation, trends, and comparison over time and area, often from data warehouses alongside operational GIS layers.
