Solar Monitor
Gain insight into the number of installed solar panels per municipality or province in the Netherlands. This dataset shows the locations of solar panels, the number of panels and the annual energy yield.
What is it?
The Solar Monitor from MapServices provides accurate insight into the number of installed solar panels per municipality or province in the Netherlands. This dataset shows the locations of solar panels, the number of panels and the (indicative) annual energy yield. The dataset is compiled through a combination of automated detection via advanced software and full visual inspection, resulting in an average accuracy of at least 95%, often up to approximately 98%, depending on the quality of the aerial photographs.
How do you use it?
The Solar Monitor is ideal for analyses and policy monitoring. It enables users to easily map the growth of realised PV installations per area. On request, a utilisation map can also be delivered, which visualises the current utilisation of the potential number of solar panels per neighbourhood, district or municipality. The dataset is available as GIS files (shapefile, GeoJSON, GPKG), as web services (WMS, WFS) or via a GIS viewer, making integration into existing systems straightforward. It is a reliable source for policy development and advisory services in the field of solar energy.
